The Story Behind the CommuniCase

Creating a Communicase

My name is Jenniffer and I am a Mom and the co-inventor of the CommuniCase. It began with a statement my 6 year old made...

" I dont want to ask/tell you."

When I asked her why, she replied...

"Because you will YELL at me!"

It was at that moment I realized my recent stress, lack of time and patience over the last few months was not only affecting me but my children. I realized my reactions directly affected our communication and trust.

Their father and I had decided to divorce and we would soon need to tell the girls. I wanted to make sure they felt comfortable with any questions or feelings they wanted to talk about.

How would I do that now? How could I build their trust back and have them want to communicate with me again?

What is the CommuniCase

Picture of Decorating the Communicase

The CommuniCase is a CASE (container with lid) that each person receives, decorates and make their own. Children take pride in what they make and will be excited to use and express their Case. Decorating together creates a bond and connects the case with your quality time. Place your CommuniCase on the nightstand by your bed or choose your own place.

Tools inside the Communicase

The CommuniCase contains a list of rules in the lid that must be followed when using the CommuniCase. Notepads are included to help express feelings in a healthy way. Talk, Listen, Time Out tools are included to promote successful face to face communication. Buttons are available for feelings and rewarding behavior.

How Does it Work?

Any notes placed in the CommuniCase are considered correct and one can not get yelled at or in trouble for their thoughts and feelings. Actions are not always correct and together consequences can be calmly discussed with the helpful tools included.

The CommuniCase provides the opportune time for one to listen and focus on the issues at hand. This time allows for thought process, calm responses and positively approaching a conversation. Respect begets Respect!
